
Navy Builds Guam Army National Guard a New Readiness Center

SANTA RITA, Guam (NNS) -- Naval Facilities Engineering Command Marianas awarded a $18.4 million firm-fixed-price contract March 10 to dck pacific guam LLC, of Barrigada Guam, for the design and construction of the new Guam Army National Guard (GUARNG) Readiness Center.
"This contract award is another example of NAVFAC Marianas' focus on providing facility, engineering and design support to our diverse military customers," said NAVFAC Marianas Commanding Officer Capt. Peter Lynch.
The project involves design and construction of a concrete facility and supporting infrastructure. When complete, the new GUARNG Readiness Center will be home to Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 294th Infantry Regiment, the 721st Army Band and the 1990th Contingency Contracting Team.
"We are excited that this project will finally be underway so that our band and special weapons company will have a home where they can train and prepare for both their dual mission of responding to any emergency on island as well as being ready to support the war fighter," said Guam National Guard Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Donald Goldhorn.
Work is expected to be completed by January 2012.
This contract was competitively procured via the NAVFAC e-solicitation Web site with seven proposals received.
