3/6/2010 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations March 01 according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

Air Operations in Afghanistan:

Close Air Support

Balocan, Regional Command-South
Coalition pilots, a U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer aircrew and MQ-1B Predator operators provided armed overwatch for Coalition and friendly forces. Coalition pilots commenced a strafing run against enemy personnel at the request of friendly ground forces then joined with the B-1 aircrew to conduct shows of force to deter enemy action in the area. The shows of force, with flares launched, were deemed successful. The Predator operators observed enemy forces emplacing IED's and launched missiles to eliminate the threat to friendly forces. The threat was successfully eliminated.

Qal-E-Naw, RC-W
U.S. Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet aircrews provided a show of force, releasing multiple flares, in support of friendly forces. The show of force was declared successful.

Sar Banader, RC-S
U.S. air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots provided several shows of force, releasing multiple flares, in support of friendly forces who had received enemy small-arms fire. The shows of were declared successful.

Airlift Action

Zabul Province, RC-S
U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrews flew combat-resupply missions in Zabul Province, Afghanistan, airdropping approximately 61,000 pounds of supplies to friendly forces.

Badghis Province, RC-W
U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrews flew combat-resupply missions in Badghis Province, Afghanistan, airdropping approximately 48,000 pounds of supplies and materials to friendly forces.

Konar, RC-E
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-resupply mission in Konar Province, Afghanistan, airdropping approximately 30,000 pounds of supplies to friendly forces.

Helmand Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-resupply mission in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, airdropping approximately 35,000 pounds of supplies to friendly forces.
