2/13/2010 - SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations February 10, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.
Air Operations in Afghanistan:
Close Air Support
Asadabad, Regional Command- South
U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces conducting a town-hall meeting. The aircrews observed suspicious people setting up a possible ambush position in the area of the meeting. After verification that the group on the ground were enemy forces, aircrews released precision-guided munitions on the enemy position to neutralize the threat to the town-hall meeting participants. The action was determined successful by ground control.
U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews were over the area later in the day providing armed overwatch for friendly forces. The crews also provided reconnaissance and surveillance, looking for enemy forces and points of origin of enemy fire. When enemy forces were observed firing on friendly forces, precision-guided munitions were released on the enemy position terminating enemy fire. The aircrews then provided armed overwatch while ground forces conducted a battle damage assessment of the destroyed enemy position.
Lashkar Gah, RC-S
U.S. Air Force MQ-1B Predator operators provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. When Predator operators observed enemy personnel planting an improvised explosive device, missiles were fired to eliminate the threat to friendly forces. The missiles disrupted enemy forces' intentions.
Mushan, RC-S
U.S. Air Force MQ-9A Reaper operators providing armed reconnaissance detected enemy forces planting an IED. Operators engaged enemy forces with missiles, disrupting their intentions and eliminating a threat to friendly forces.
Sar Bandadar, RC-S
U.S. Marine AV-8B Harrier pilots provided close air support for friendly forces. Pilots conducted a show of force, with flares launched, in order to deter enemy action and alert the local population friendly forces were in the area. The show of force was declared successful when the local populace was observed coming out to see what was happening and when no enemy action was reported.
Surkhabad, RC-S
Coalition pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The pilots conducted a show of force that was determined successful by ground control.

Afghanistan
A U.S. Air Force C-130 aircrew distributed informational leaflets via airdrop to locations across Afghanistan.
Zabul Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-resupply mission in Zabul Province, Afghanistan, airdropping approximately 35,000 pounds of supplies to friendly forces allowing them to maintain combat operations. The aircraft also airdropped approximately 1,800 pounds of needed supplies to another location on the same flight.
Uruzgan Province, RC-S
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-resupply mission in Uruzgan Province, Afghanistan, airdropping approximately 35,000 pounds of supplies to friendly forces.
Badghis Province, RC-W
A U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-resupply mission in Badghis Province, Afghanistan, airdropping approximately 35,000 pounds of supplies to friendly forces.

A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-resupply mission in Badghis Province, Afghanistan, airdropping nearly 70,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
Helmand Province, RC-W
A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-resupply mission in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, airdropping nearly 70,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
