Lavrov says Israel decision to limit construction not enough

TASHKENT, December 22 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday the Israeli government's decision to limit some aspects of settlement construction was not enough.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced in late November that construction would be limited in the occupied West Bank, but not in East Jerusalem. He also said construction would resume in the future.
"We have approved the [Benjamin] Netanyahu government's decision to impose a 10-month moratorium on some aspects of settlement construction... The step is correct but clearly not sufficient," Russia's top diplomat said, addressing the University of Global Economy and Diplomacy in Tashkent.
According to the Israeli government press service, the Defense Ministry had issued 64 instructions over the past two days to halt the construction of some projects, with a number of building machinery confiscated.
However, Palestinians who claim the land for their future state found the concessions insufficient insisting that Israeli settlement construction be frozen altogether.
