Coalition set up hilltops bunkers at Pak-Afghan border

Islamabad, Dec 16, IRNA -- Coalition forces in Afghanistan have set up new bunkers at the hilltops near the Torkham Pak-Afghan border ahead of the deploy of more 30,000 U.S. troops in Afghanistan, locals said.

According to witnesses, one Chinook and two gunship helicopters were busy on Tuesday while deploying Afghan and NATO troops along with the heavy and light guns on the hilltops at the surroundings of Torkham Pak-Afghan border.

Long-range heavy guns were seen hanging beneath the Chinook helicopter when they were shifted to Torkham border.

Meanwhile, mobility of the NATO forces at Torkham border was extraordinary on Tuesday as they established ready-made scanning equipments in container room checkpoint in Afghan Torkham bazaar to keep eye on the pedestrians’ mobility, sources said.

NATO forces have extended security measures on Torkham border for one month and have started body searching of the travelers.

To take officials version of the new deployments of NATO forces at Torkham border officials had no idea about the NATO developments.
