
NSA Bahrain Changes Leadership

MANAMA, Bahrain (NNS) -- Naval Support Activity (NSA) Bahrain held a change of command ceremony Dec. 6 in Manama, Bahrain.
Capt. Enrique "Rick" Sadsad relieved Capt. Frank Capria as commanding officer of NSA Bahrain.
"I am grateful for the superb support the crew and civilian staff provided me during my brief tenure as the commanding officer of NSA," said Capria. "I am confident that Capt. Sadsad's leadership and energy will move our community forward as we continue the command's support of 5th Fleet's execution of operations supporting Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom."
NSA Bahrain provides operational support to U.S. and coalition forces operating throughout U.S. Central Command's Area of Responsibility (AOR).
NSA operates and sustains superior facilities and services for its tenant commands, their deployed assets and military members, Department of Defense civilian personnel and dependents living in Bahrain and provides security to ships, aircraft, operational detachments and remote sites throughout 5th Fleet's AOR.
"I am inspired by the opportunity to lead this command and believe it will be a highlight of my military career," said Sadsad. "NSA will continue to support the Navy mission and all personnel involved in carrying out that mission."
Capt. Sadsad and his wife, Yvonne, will be in Bahrain for a two year tour. Sadsad grew up in Olongapo City, Philippines, near Subic Bay Naval Base. He enlisted in the Navy in 1977 as an aviation machinist mate and certified as a search and rescue naval aircrewman.
After earning a bachelor's degree in aviation management from Southern Illinois University, he was transferred to Aviation Officer Candidate School in July 1983. He was designated a naval flight officer in December 1984. Among other assignments, Sadsad commanded Training Squadron 4 (VT-4)in 2001 and Whiting Field in 2007. Sadsad and his wife have four children.
