Iran, Syria support Palestinians vis-a-vis Israeli occupation
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Damascus, Syria, Dec 3, IRNA -- Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Thursday renewed support for the Palestinian resistance to Israeli occupation.
Both sides considered support for the legitimate resistance to occupation of the Zionist regime as the most logical and effective way for establishing security and promoting welfare in the Middle East.
Referring to the current regional and international developments, Jalili said that creating new capacities for Tehran-Damascus strategic relations is essential.
Pointing to the failure of certain powers in imposing the occupying regime on the Middle East, he said that occupiers’ concern over Iran-Syria cooperation is natural, because, the cooperation is in the interest of the regional nations and governments.
Jalili also presented a report on Iran’s nuclear program and underlined that Iran is a responsible signatory to Non-Proliferation Treaty and member state of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The main mission of Iran is to reclaim all its rights in the framework of international standards, he said.
President Assad, for his part, appreciated Iran for its initiatives about regional and international issues and evaluated Tehran’s approach to secure fuel supply for Tehran medical research reactor as logical.
Calling for the development of bilateral ties, he said that Tehran-Damascus ties are effective and outstanding in all fields.
He hoped that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will visit Syria soon.
