Italian envoy says consultation with Iran on Afghanistan is vital

Tehran, Dec 1, IRNA -- Italian Foreign Minister Special Envoy Massimo Iannucci underlined necessity of consultation with Iran on Afghanistan issue.
According to the report of Foreign Ministry Media Department, Iannucci conferred met with Deputy Foreign Minister in Europe Affairs Ali Ahani here on Tuesday.
In the meeting, the two sides discussed developments and problems in Afghanistan.
Iannucci said that Iran is one of the main sides in Afghanistan issue and Italy underlines necessity and importance of consultation with Iran in this concern.
He added holding Afghanistan International Conference in Kabul in future with the presence of Afghanistan neighbors is very important.
Ahani, by referring to the current problems of Afghanistan people, said that presence of foreign forces and interference of a number of western countries in Afghanistan are among the most important problems of that country which have aggravated complicated issues of terrorism, radicalism and illegal drugs.
Referring to the Tokyo Meeting concerning Afghanistan, Ahani said that many of the countries which promised financial aids did not fulfill their promises and no one could execute rebuilding projects by international financial sources like Iran.
Massimo Iannucci is Director General of Asia Department in Italian Foreign Ministry as well as special envoy of the foreign minister. He has traveled to Iran to discuss issues related to Afghanistan.
