ATK Awarded $100 Million Contract for Trident II Solid Rocket Propulsion Systems

ATK's 53-Year History of Submarine Missile Propulsion Extended Through calendar year 2013

MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Alliant Techsystems (NYSE: ATK) has received a $100 million contract from Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) to produce solid rocket propulsion systems for all three stages of the U.S. Navy's Trident II (D-5) Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM).

Under terms of the annual contract, ATK will continue to supply Trident solid rocket propulsion systems to the Trident II (D-5) Missile System Prime Contractor, Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company, Sunnyvale, Calif, through calendar year 2013. Deployed in 1990, the Trident II (D-5) is the only U.S. submarine-launched strategic missile system in production today.
