SILVERDALE, Wash. (NNS) -- Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Northwest awarded Bulltrack-Watts of Bremerton, Wash., a $10.8 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) contract Sept. 28 to replace the water distribution system at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, located in Oak Harbor, Wash.

The project will replace the water distribution lines on Ault Field and the Seaplane Base with new ductile iron water lines up to 18 inches in diameter.

The project is designed to minimize water outages while construction occurs near the existing lines and several old cast iron lines, which are fragile.

The contract is a firm-fixed price design-build construction contract for all work including labor, materials and equipment, with a completion date of March 31, 2011.
