Iraq Arrests Terrorist Cell Leaders

Iraqi security forces arrested six suspected terrorists Tuesday, including two suspected terrorist cell leaders.
A U.S. military statement said Iraqi troops with U.S. advisors arrested five people during operations in Tarmiya, about 30 kilometers northwest of Baghdad. The statement said one of the suspects was a key member of a network responsible for car bombs in the region.
A sixth person was detained near Tuz Khurmatu, located about 65 kilometers south of Kirkuk. The suspect, Badr Sarhan Shihan, was said to be the regional leader for al-Qaida's Islamic State of Iraq.
On Monday, Iraqi police said a suicide bomber entered a funeral tent in western Iraq and detonated explosives, killing at least six mourners and wounding 15 others.
The attack occurred in the town of Haditha in Iraq's Anbar province, which was once an insurgent stronghold. But violence there greatly decreased after local Sunni tribes sided with the U.S. military in 2006 to fight against al-Qaida.
