By VOA News
23 September 2009

Officials in Afghanistan say a roadside bomb has killed five Afghan civilians and wounded at least two others.

The officials said Wednesday the bomb hit the victims' vehicle as they were driving in Farah province on Tuesday.

Taliban and other militants frequently use bombs to attack Afghan and international forces. The bombs often kill civilians.

On Tuesday, Afghanistan's Interior Ministry said a suicide bomber killed himself and two accomplices when his explosives-filled vest detonated prematurely.

The explosion took place in the southwestern province of Nimroz late Monday. Media reports say the suicide bomber was preparing to attack foreign forces nearby [in the vicinity of Delaram district].

Some information for this report was provided by AP and Reuters.
