14:29 15/09/2009 BUENOS-AIRES, September 15 (RIA Novosti) - Over 20 African countries will participate in a South America-Africa Summit to be held on Venezuela's Margarita Island on September 26-27, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said.
"The heads of over 20 African countries have confirmed their participation in the summit," Chavez said, speaking on the Venezuelan VTV channel.
"Libyan revolution leader Muammar al-Gaddafi, who has never been to the American continent, will cross the Atlantic Ocean for the first time," he added.
The Venezuelan president also said that that he hoped cooperation between two continents would help to create a new geopolitical map.
This will be the second South America-Africa Summit. The first one was held in the Nigerian capital Abuja in November 2006 with the participation of some 60 countries.
