BAE SYSTEMS CONCLUDES DANISH CV90 OFFSET FOUR YEARS EARLY

08 Sep 2009 | Ref. 161/2009

London, United Kingdom. - BAE Systems has concluded its 200 million-plus Euro offset commitment in Denmark, four years ahead of schedule. The offset obligation was a feature of a contract for 45 Hägglunds CV9035 infantry fighting vehicles signed in December 2005.

BAE Systems has been working closely with its Danish industrial partner, Hydrema A/S, located in north Jylland. Hydrema has been responsible for the manufacture of the complete turret and the integration of the turret on to the chassis. Besides the direct work placed in Denmark, there has been significant technology transfer and investment in the Danish defence industry.

“The CV9035 production arrangement has worked very well for us,” said Jan W. Jensen, managing director at A/S Hydrema Export. “Furthermore the technology transfer we have received from BAE Systems has helped us as a company. We are now in a position to take on advanced military contracts work and maintenance work for the CV90.”

“Thanks to a successful programme of co-operation with Danish industry, we have achieved more than originally projected.” said Anders Karlsson, offset director at BAE Systems’ vehicles business in Sweden. “The creation of local jobs is important and we have proposed a similar production set-up to meet the Canadian Close Combat Vehicle requirement, where we recently responded to an information request.”

The offset project has also given BAE Systems a large number of contacts with high-technology Danish small and medium enterprises for the continued development of CV90.
