CHINHAE, South Korea (NNS) -- Sailors assigned to the Joint Reception Center (JRC) at Commander, Fleet Activities Chinhae (CFAC) are working hard to move Navy Sailors into the Republic of Korea for Ulchi Freedom Guardian (UFG) 2009 excercise.

"Our job at the JRC starts way before the troops come in," said Builder 1st Class Anthony Williams, of Albany, Ind., a Reservist who works as the administrative leading petty officer at the Chinhae JRC. "We gather all flight information and start planning for pick up [schedules] from several transportation stops. We also schedule pick up points from airports, train stations and other JRCs."

There are a total of five JRCs across the Korean Peninsula that support around 26,000 military personnel and civilians. The JRC in Chinhae supports four life-support areas (LSAs) that consist of approximately 450 service members.

After service members arrive at their destination areas, the work doesn't stop. They must submit their orders, Page 2's and emergency data information to the JRC to ensure that every person is accounted for. Once all the paperwork is submitted, the JRC then starts proceedings to getting the troops back home in two weeks.

"We start compiling flight data to charter buses to get everyone to the proper debarkation point in Korea," said Williams. "We coordinate with the U.S. Army's 25th Transportation Battalion and have arranged for 11 charter buses."

The JRC is responsible for tracking and coordinating movements of all active duty and Reserve Sailors arriving in South Korea to support UFG 09.

"I just do not see numbers; I see lives," said Williams. "I take it to heart that all the lives are accounted for from the day we pick them up until till the day they leave."
