JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (NNS) -- Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Southeast awarded a $7.5 million indefinite delivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ) Architect/Engineering (A/E) contract Aug. 26 to HDR Engineering, Inc. of Colorado Springs, Colo.

"Our team continues to improve our contract capabilities through tools such as the IDIQ contracts," Capt. John Rice, NAVFAC Southeast executive officer. "They speed up the process for our supported commanders and amplify our strength to accomplish projects quickly and effeciently for our area of responsibility (AOR)."

The scope of A/E services required includes professional facilities planning and engineering services for various project types at Department of Defense (DoD) and Non-DoD activities primarily within the NAVFAC Southeast AOR. The required A/E services may be categorized as design or engineering services and will primarily be for professional facilities planning.

The contract scope includes the entire AOR or NAVFAC Southeast, installations include but are not limited to, Naval Bases, Marine Bases, Air Force Bases, Army Bases and Navy and Marine Corps Centers. These installations along with other government and non-government facilities will be primarily expected to be located in Florida; Guantamano Bay, Cuba; Andros Island, Bahamas, and Puerto Rico.

The first task order for this contract was awarded Aug. 26 in the amount of $718,240.00 for Basic Facility Requirements at the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) on Andros Island. This planning activity is to update the basic facilities requirements on over 150 different category codes for AUTEC at Andros Island.

The length of this contract is a base plus four, one-year options not to exceed 60 months from the award date of August 2009.
