YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea - An otherwise unremarkable stream transformed into a raging, muddy torrent along a road near Reynolds Range July 13 following 10 inches of rainfall. USAG-Yongsan officials estimate about $1.9 million in property damage.

Residents are reminded to remain vigilant during monsoon season. Monsoon rains frequently cause mudslides, flash floods, and power outages - all of which may have catastrophic potential, especially for those unprepared for the consequences.

"We want all units to be aware of the heavy rain and its potential impact on operations," said U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan Operations Director Gerald Casey. "Keep the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security apprised of any flooding."

For questions related to monsoons in Korea, call the USAG-Yongsan DPTMS at 738-7316 during duty-hours and 738-7404 or 738-7405 during off-duty hours.
