'Team Thales' initiative strengthens relationships with SMEs
30 June 2009
Thales will be using this week’s Defence + Industry Conference and Exhibition in Adelaide to strengthen relationships with Small and Medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) under its ‘Team Thales’ initiative.
As a global prime with opportunities in Australia and around the world, Thales is well placed to broaden and deepen its already strong links with the SME sector.
“Australian SMEs are a vital part of the defence industry,” said Chris Jenkins, Thales Australia’s Managing Director.
“They are a real driving force with much to offer in developing new ideas, technologies, products and services. We all benefit immensely from their creativity, and in return can help them access national and international supply chains to develop new business.”
At D+I, key personnel from Thales will be holding face to face meetings with more than 40 SME representatives from a wide range of technologies and specialisations, and discussing their potential for existing and upcoming programs.
”We already work with a large number of SMEs in Australia. Our success in key projects has been highly dependent on the creation and management of sound commercial arrangements with hundreds of individual suppliers and contractors.
“This week’s meetings will add to that total by opening up new prospects across the board.
“At a time of continuing economic uncertainty, it’s especially vital that primes such as Thales work closely with SMEs, the Defence Materiel Organisation and the Department of Defence.
“By doing this we can deliver increased capabilities to the Australian Defence Force, and generate benefits for all the organisations involved. It’s a win-win situation.”
