SAN DIEGO (NNS) -- Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Southwest awarded Hal Hays Construction Inc. of San Diego a $1.36 million Recovery Act funded contract June 19 to repair aviation training buildings at Marine Corps Air Station in Camp Pendleton, Calif.
"The repairs for the Chief Naval Aviation and Technical Training (CNATT) buildings will provide much needed improvements to the quality of aviation technical training for the Marines stationed at Marine Corps Air Station, Camp Pendleton," said Lily Pang, NAVFAC Southwest project manager for the repair project.
Hal Hays Construction Inc. will remove walls and acoustic ceiling system from CNATT buildings, epoxy coat the floor, install vinyl composition tile and carpet tile, install a new female bathroom, replace a shower unit in the men's bathroom, replace light fixtures and diffusers, conduct electrical upgrades, paint interiors, test HVAC (heating, ventilating, and air conditioning) systems, and inspect cranes.
"With this project award, Hal Hays Construction is honored to continue its support of Camp Pendleton's training mission and the president's Recovery Act initiative," said Denise Hays, Hal Hays Construction Inc. vice president. "This project will bring much needed modernization to the Navy and Marine Corps shore training facilities and at the same time benefit the local workforce and Hal Hays Construction's employees and their families. We look forward to partnering with the Navy on this key facility."
Hal Hays Construction Inc. will complete work by summer 2010.
"NAVFAC Southwest is proud to support the president's initiative to put people back to work while improving the quality of life for the Marines," said Pang.
