LITTLE CREEK, Va. (NNS) -- Cmdr. Dennis DeBobes relieved Cmdr. Travis Schweizer as commanding officer of Sea Air Land (SEAL) Team 4 during a ceremony at Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek June 19.

During the ceremony, Schweizer spoke about the significant accomplishments that the men and women of SEAL Team 4 have made while supporting overseas contingency operations.

"Our operators are taking the fight to our enemies and we are accomplishing our mission," said Schweizer. "I couldn't be more proud of the service and dedication of the men and women of SEAL Team 4."

Schweizer, a California native, received a commission in 1990 from the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) at the University of California, Los Angeles.

In 1992, he went on to complete Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) training as a class leader for Class 185.

His first assignment after graduation was to SEAL Team 3 in San Diego, where he earned his qualification as a Naval Special Warfare (SEAL) Officer.

DeBobes comes from serving on the staff of the Chief of Naval Personnel in Washington, D.C. He graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., in June 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in English. He completed BUD/S training with Class 189 in August 1993.

SEAL Team 4 recently returned from a six-month deployment in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom. The team's actions helped increase security and stability in theatres of operation throughout the world.
