17 June 2009
Paris Air Show, 17 June 2009 - Thales is pleased to announce that in celebration of the 1,000th TSA 1400 produced at Thales Laval facility, ELTA Systems was presented with a golden “Millennium” TSA 1400 IFF interrogator. A ceremony was hosted to commemorate both this significant and successful milestone and a further order from ELTA Systems for the market leading TSA 1400 IFF.
The TSA 1400 IFF digital interrogator is integrated in-Service on a wide variety of MANPAD/SHORAD systems. Such MANPAD systems include ATLAS, MISTRAL and STINGER, whilst SHORAD systems include ELTA AA, GIRAFFE and SIDAM. Although primarily classed as a V/SHORAD IFF interrogator system, a booster can also be provided which extends the range capability up to 150km.
The TSA 1400 can be delivered with all civilian and military modes with full operation in Mode S. Furthermore it can also now be supplied with, or upgraded to, Mode 5 in common with the whole Thales IFF product range. The Mode 5 is a critical new requirement and will be essential for all NATO military operations within a few years.
"This new order demonstrates the confidence of the ELTA team in the Thales product reliability, performance, ease of integration and affordability. The compact, rugged and versatile TSA 1400 IFF Interrogator is ideally suited to ELTA's very demanding requirements for such critical systems." said Mr. Nissim Hadas, President of ELTA Systems.
"Thales is very pleased that a market leader of surveillance radar systems and ground based air defence systems such as ELTA has once again selected our TSA 1400 IFF Interrogator system for it's global market needs." commented Merry Michaux, Vice President, Communications, Navigation and Identification business line, Thales.
Thales is a worldwide leader in the IFF domain. Thales remains unique in having a complete and comprehensive IFF product portfolio satisfying the current and future equipment needs of all armed forces around the globe.
