Indian, Pakistani Leaders Hold Bilateral Talks
By VOA News
16 June 2009
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari are holding bilateral talks in Russia, in their first face-to-face meeting since the terrorist attacks in Mumbai last November.
The two leaders spoke Tuesday on the sideline of a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Relations between India and Pakistan have been strained since the Mumbai attacks, which left more than 170 people dead and at least 300 wounded.
India has blamed the Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba for the attacks. It also has suggested members of the Pakistani spy service were involved in the siege.
Pakistan and the militant group deny taking part in the attacks.
