
Thales new generation IFF selected by Lockheed Martin for TPS-79 Multi-Mission Surveillance Radars

Paris Air Show, 16 June 2009 - Thales is pleased to announce that its new Medium to Long Range IFF interrogator has been selected by Lockheed Martin for integration with its TPS-79 Multi-Mission Tactical Air Surveillance Radar Systems. Under these contracts Thales will deliver 22 interrogator systems.
These contract awards demonstrate the Thales IFF product family's reliability, performance, ease of integration and affordability. The awards further strengthen Thales position as a worldwide leader in the IFF domain and highlight the Thales complete and comprehensive IFF product portfolio, satisfying the current and future equipment needs of all armed forces around the globe. To date, Thales has supplied more than 16,000 IFF equipments and has systems installed on more than one hundred platforms worldwide.
This Medium to Long Range IFF interrogator includes all civilian and military modes with full operation in Mode S. In common with the whole Thales IFF product range, the Medium to Long Range IFFinterrogator has assured upgradeability to Mode 5, a critical requirement for all NATO military operations within a few years.
