SAIC Awarded Contract By U.S. Joint Forces Command

--Company to Provide Research, Development, Engineering and Technical Services to the Joint Concept Development and Experimentation Directorate (J9)

SAN DIEGO and MCLEAN, Va., June 16, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (NYSE: SAI) today announced it has been awarded a contract by The U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) to provide research, development, engineering and technical services to the Joint Concept Development and Experimentation Directorate (J-9). The multiple-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract has a five year period of performance. For SAIC, the contract ceiling value is $284 million. Work will be performed primarily in Suffolk, Va.

USJFCOM J-9 coordinates U.S. Department of Defense efforts to explore how the future military can successfully operate in complex, ever-changing and uncertain environments. J-9 runs exercises, undertakes technology development, and works with the military to develop enhanced concepts of operations. Under the contract, SAIC will provide research and development, and engineering and technical services as required. SAIC will also conduct studies and simulation, and provide concept definition, research, analysis and technological assessments.
