Israel Aerospace Industries Introduces the POP-300D (Designator)

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has launched the newest member of its POP EO/IR payload family: the POP-300D Designator (Plug In Optronic Payload 300 – Designator). The POP-300D, part of the POP family of advanced, lightweight, single Line Replaceable Unit (LRU), observation and targeting payloads, places a concentrated laser spot on a target of interest, enabling precise homing of laser guided munitions on such targets.
The POP-300D provides day and night reconnaissance and surveillance capability, together with a dual band laser that enables target designation and range finding. The POP-300D also supports most NATO laser guided weapons.
The POP-300D has successfully completed live-fire testing of the laser designation capability. The successful tests have confirmed the systems' precision, with all missiles hitting their intended targets. Following this fire test, IAI has received purchase orders for production units.
