
USNS Comfort Hosts Dominican Navy During Leadership Exchange

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (NNS) -- Continuing Promise 2009 (CP09) military members hosted a "Leadership Exchange" for Dominican Republic Navy officers aboard hospital ship USNS Comfort (T-AH 20) April 23.
The leadership exchange offered a platform to discuss leadership styles, processes, military law, rules and regulations as well as military life and culture.
"It was a learning experience to interchange points of view and share with each other the differences and similarities of our forces," said Lt. j.g. Ramon Jorge, Dominican Navy.
CP09 provides an opportunity to provide humanitarian aid but also to learn from host nation partners.
"It turned out to be a wonderful experience," said Navy Lt. Dinorah Cely. "We have more in common than we thought and gave them a clear idea of our mission here."
CP09 is a joint effort between U.S. military, interagency personnel, partner nations and NGOs can coordinate and carry out humanitarian efforts to provide medical, dental, veterinary and engineering services afloat and ashore alongside host nation personnel.
