Top Iranian, Pakistani, Afghan officails begin talks on Afghanistan

Islamabad, April 10, IRNA -- Top Iranian, Afghan and Pakistani envoys Friday opened talks in Islamabad to explore ways to boost cooperation for peace in the war-shattered Afghanistan, officials said.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mehdi Akhundzadeh is representing Tehran in the important talks, sources told IRNA.
Afghan Foreign Secretary Muhammad Akbar Farahi is also taking part in the talks, Afghan embassy sources said.
Pakistan is represented by Secretary Foreign Affairs Salman Bashir.
Sources said that officials of the three countries are discussing ways to enhance cooperation and to adopt unanimous stand on regional peace, with special focus on Afghanistan.
Foreign affairs experts and analysts attach great importance to the talks as the three countries have major stake in the regional peace.
Senior officials from the three countries have increased interaction on Afghanistan on few international forums, including the conference in The Hague.
Iranian and Afghan officials will also meet Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi during stay in Islamabad, sources said.
