Taliban reject Obama policy as 'eye wash' to deceive world

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Islamabad, March 28, IRNA -- Afghan Taliban Friday rejected as ‘eye wash’ US President Barak Obama's new strategy for Afghanistan and said ‘the US must be ready to receive’ more bodies of their soldiers in the coming days.

Announcing the much awaited new US strategy in Afghanistan and Pakistan, President Obama ordered 4,000 more troops to be diparched to Afghanistan, pledging to "disrupt, dismantle and defeat" the terrorist al-Qaida network in Afghanistan and neighboring in Pakistan.

“If they (would) send more troops to Afghanistan they will receive more bodies. The Americans must prepare to welcome more bodies of their soldiers,” Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said from an undisclosed location in Afghanistan.

Obama said the deployment of more troops is aimed at boosting the Afghan army and to fight the insurgents in the western and eastern parts of Afghanistan, whom he said are plotting new attacks against Americans.

The Taliban spokesman said that the US and its western and European allies from over 40 countries have failed over the past seven year to defeat the Taliban despite using planes and all type of heavy weapons.

“More US and NATO soldiers are now (getting) killed in Afghanistan. Their tanks are destroyed and even (their) helicopters are shot down,” Mujahid said.

He said that Obama himself has admitted that 2008 was a disastrous year for the American soldiers in Afghanistan. “If he admits himself, whythen is he sending more troops to Afghanistan?” asked the Taliban spokesman .

“The new policy is just an attempt to deceive the world,” the Taliban spokesman said.

He said that Obama wants to divert the attention of the Afghan people from the battle field to the so-called upcoming presidential election.

“The people are not interested in Obama's speeches but resistance is fastly increasing as US fighter planes have killed many civilians including women and children and many Afghans have joined the ‘Mujahideen’ to take revenge,” Mujahid added.

He also rejected the notion of moderate Taliban and said that this is just a propaganda and a move to mislead the world. “There is no approach of moderate or hardliner in Taliban. Taliban are one and same,” he said.

He said that if Obama refers to some former Taliban officials who are either living in Kabul or outside, then he should know that they can not represent the Taliban.

Mujahid also said that Afghanistan is not Iraq, where the US is talking about success to approach some so called moderate elements.

“They claim success in thier Iraq strategy, but I will tell them that the Americans should prepare themselves for more bodies of soldiers,” he added
