Sri Lankan Army kills 4 senior LTTE leaders

New Delhi, March 26, IRNA - In the fierce offensive which continues in the North, the Army claims to have killed a number of Tamil Tigers including four senior leaders Kadal, Vardhan Anna, Sooriyan and Eelavan during the confrontations.

The army successfully pushed back the LTTE offensive elements moving towards the military forward defences, North of Iranapalai, forcing the Tigers to flee in total disarray leaving behind dead cadres.

Over a dozen LTTE bodies were observed lying left at the battlefront, All India Radio (AIR) reported quoting sources from battleground.

Five bodies of the LTTTE cadres including those of three female Tamil Tigers were also recovered separately by Task Force Eight.

In yet another incident of farmer killing in less than 48 hours, military sources said that four farmers were shot dead and four injured by a suspected group of LTTE cadres Wednesday night at Polonnaruwa district in Welikanda Manikdeniya area.

A day earlier five paddy farmers were reported killed in a similar manner in Trincomalee area.
