-Company to Help Operate and Maintain Biometric Technology In Support of the Warfighter

SAN DIEGO and MCLEAN, Va., Feb 24, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (NYSE: SAI) today announced it has been awarded a subcontract by Sensor Technologies Incorporated (STI) to support the U.S. Army Communications and Electronics Command (CECOM) by providing operations and user maintenance support to Tactical Biometrics Systems (TBS). SAIC's subcontract has a one-year base period of performance, three one-year options and a total contract value of more than $115 million if all options are exercised. The task order was awarded under the CECOM Strategic Services Sourcing contract.

TBS is a collection of biometric tools including the Biometrics Automated Toolset - Army, the Biometrics Identification System for Access and Hand-held Interagency Identity Detection Equipment systems. Through this subcontract, SAIC will provide operations and user maintenance support to help ensure continued, reliable technical support of TBS systems, peripherals and networks.

"SAIC has provided DoD's Biometric Campaign with engineering, design, development, training, operations and maintenance support since 2003," said John Thomas, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. "We look forward to contributing to the growing biometrics support our fighting men and women are receiving throughout the world."
