SAIC Awarded Task Order to Support U.S. Joint Forces Command

--Company to Help Enhance Joint Warfighting Capabilities

SAN DIEGO and MCLEAN, Va., Feb 11, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (NYSE: SAI) today announced it has been awarded a task order by the Department of Defense (DoD) to support the U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) Joint Capability Development (JCD) Directorate (J8) in the areas of engineering, analysis, test, and evaluation. The task order has a one-year base period of performance with a value of more than $15 million and four one-year options with a total value of more than $81 million if all options are exercised. Work will be performed primarily in Arlington, Norfolk and Suffolk, Va. The task order was competitively awarded under DoD's Joint Test and Evaluation Engineering Services multiple award task order contracts, awarded and administered by the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center's Contracting Office.

USJFCOM J8 identifies joint, multinational, and interagency capability gaps and works with other combatant commands, the services, coalition partners, and agencies to fill those shortfalls with integrated capabilities. Under this task order, SAIC will provide USJFCOM J8 with analysis and engineering services to help address complex challenges associated with joint capability development. Work will be performed in the areas of command and control, capability engineering, system engineering, integration focused on architecture driven analysis, capability portfolio management, and net-enabled command capability. SAIC's work will also support the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS), a decision support system used to define acquisition requirements and evaluation criteria for future defense programs.
