
Contract Awarded for Base Support in Sigonella

NAPLES, Italy (NNS) -- The Naval Facilities Engineering Command Europe and Southwest Asia (NAVFAC EURSWA)awarded a $6,748,021 firm fixed-price contract Nov. 20 for base operating support (BOS) at Naval Air Station (NAS) Sigonella.
"This contract has been a long time coming and will greatly enhance BOS support at Naval Air Station Sigonella," said NAVFAC EURSWA Commanding Officer Frank Aucremanne.
Team BOS Sigonella, Joint Venture of Gemmo/Del-Jen, Inc./LA.RA S.r.l. of Vicenza, Italy, was awarded the contract, which provides for all labor, supervision, tools, materials, equipment and transportation necessary to provide BOS services for the NAS Sigonella and supported installations.
The contract also contains four unexercised options that would increase cumulative contract value to $46,944,564, if exercised. Work will be performed in Sicily, Italy, and is expected to be completed by Nov. 2009 (Nov. 2013 with options).
NAVFAC EURSWA executes more than $600 million a year in construction, professional engineering and facilities services for the U.S. Navy, U.S. Department of Defense and NATO commands in those countries throughout Europe and Southwest Asia where the Navy is the DoD lead agent for military construction.
