HONG KONG (NNS) -- USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19) dropped anchor in Victoria Harbour Nov. 25 beginning the crew's five day port visit to interact with the locals and enjoy the many recreational activities.

While in Hong Kong, a favorite port of call among the crew, Sailors will enjoy the hospitality of the city as well as the company of family. Several members of the crew will meet with spouses and children who flew ahead of the ship to Hong Kong to share Thanksgiving Day with each other.

Even Sailors without their own families present will be able to enjoy a family atmosphere in Hong Kong through the "Meals in the Home" Program coordinated through the ship's chaplain. Several expatriates and local businesses in the area have offered to host Sailors for lunch or dinner during their stay to show their support for U.S. military servicemen and women overseas.

The ship's Ney Award-winning food services division will host Sailors and their families on the ship's mess decks for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings.

In addition to having good food and good times with family and friends during the routine port visit, Blue Ridge and 7th Fleet staff Sailors will take part in a variety of community relations projects in Hong Kong, strengthening established ties and creating new friendships.

Blue Ridge is commanded by Capt. Thom W. Burke and serves under Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) 7/Task Force (CTF) 76, the Navy's only forward-deployed amphibious force. Blue Ridge is the flagship for Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet. Task Force 76 is headquartered at White Beach Naval Facility, Okinawa, Japan, with an operating detachment in Sasebo, Japan.
