Two Afghans hurt by German troops fire

At least two people were seriously injured when German soldiers opened fire on a vehicle near the north Afghan city of Kunduz, news reports cited a German Defense Ministry spokesman as saying here Monday.
The spokesperson claimed that the car was speeding towards the German-manned military checkpoint, when warning shots were fired hitting the hood of the vehicle.
Several people were hurt, two of them seriously who were transferred to the German military hospital in Kunduz which was also the scene of an deadly shooting last month.
An Afghan woman and two children were shot dead by German soldiers in early September at a military checkpoint near the north Afghan city of Kunduz.
Defense Minister Franz Josef Jung has acknowledged a worsening of the security situation in northern Afghanistan, where German troops are based.
Germany has deployed around 3,500 soldiers in northern Afghanistan and Kabul as part of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in addition to police instructors and civilian reconstruction workers.
Some 30 German soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan since January 2002, according to official statistics.
