ROTA, Spain (NNS) -- Vice commander of Air Mobility Command (AMC) at Scott Air Force Base Ill., visited Naval Station Rota and the Airmen of the 725th Air Mobility Squadron (AMS) and 521st Air Mobility Group (AMOG) Oct. 14.

Lt. Gen. Vern Findley became AMC's vice commander in June, and this was his last stop prior to heading back to the states from touring assets in the U.S. Central Command Area of Responsibility.

"Now that he's the vice commander, he is out seeing how the en route squadrons work," said Lt. Col. Gary Grape, 725th AMS commanding officer. "He is meeting his airmen, seeing how the warfighter support is being handled from our side of the fence and thanking everyone for 'doing what we are doing in support of the war'".

During his visit, Findley, Air Force and Navy leadership talked about the outstanding support the Air Force receives here and the great working relationships both services have.

"He was extremely pleased with the great Navy–Air Force teamwork and the enthusiasm he experienced over the last 24 hours," said Grape. "He stated the hard work, dedication to the mission and eagerness from everyone he saw was second to none!"

Grape seconded Findley's remarks, adding that everyone in the squadron does work hard every day.

"Any time I can brag up my airmen, show off the fantastic 'sometimes behind the scenes' job they do of keeping the mobility aircraft flying and supporting the warfighter is a good day for me," said Grape. "Now that the 521 AMOG is here, it was a great opportunity to show our leadership, especially the number two in AMC our success, challenges and what we may need help with down the road here at Rota."

AMC provides rapid, flexible, global reach for America. More than 141,500 people comprise the total force air mobility community, operating combat delivery and strategic airlift, air refueling and aeromedical and special mission aircraft for national interests.
