
SAIC Awarded $30 Million Contract by U.S. Navy, Naval Facilities Engineering Command - Southwest
Company to Provide Environmental Planning Support to Help Meet National Environmental Policy Act Requirements
SAN DIEGO and MCLEAN, Va., Oct 14, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (NYSE: SAI) today announced it has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Navy, Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) - Southwest to provide environmental planning support of Navy and Marine Corps construction, maintenance and training. The single award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract has a one year base period of performance, four one-year options and a total contract ceiling of $30 million. Work will be performed throughout the U.S. as required.
Under the contract, SAIC will help the Navy and Marine Corps fulfill the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements by preparing environmental studies that are integrated into Navy decision-making. NEPA, a U.S. environmental law signed January 1, 1970, focuses on the establishment of U.S. national policy promoting the enhancement of the environment. SAIC will help the Navy and Marine Corps meet NEPA requirements by providing services in areas including environmental planning documentation, biological and cultural resource studies, and permitting support.
