ATK Expands Its Reach With the Palletized Autonomous Weapon System
New System Provides Users with a Platform Independent Solution to Increase Armament Capabilities of Ground, Air, and Naval Platforms
PAWS Introduced at AUSA
MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Alliant Techsystems (NYSE: ATK) has developed the Palletized Autonomous Weapons System (PAWS) and will introduce it to the military market during AUSA's 2008 Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington, D.C. the week of Oct. 6.
PAWS is a self-contained and autonomous armament package that can be installed on a variety of platforms without special interface. PAWS provides specific capabilities to enhance safety and performance for the user.
The system provides the capability to remotely aim and fire virtually any small- or medium-caliber weapon. In particular, the ATK family of cannons and ammunition allows for maximum target flexibility based on the mission requirements.
PAWS has a simple bolt-in interface, allowing for rapid installation: the total time frame from shipping crate to firing is less than 10 minutes.
Users can mount the system to a fixed position or most any ground combat, sea or air platforms. The system offers full targeting and sighting on most platforms and can be powered by batteries, vehicle power or other external sources. Ammunition is fed directly from onboard containers. PAWS becomes a force multiplier when networked into multiple units.
PAWS may be viewed at the ATK booth during AUSA or by contacting ATK.
