SANTA RITA, Guam (NNS) -- Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 (HSC-25) held a change of command ceremony in Santa Rita Sept. 11.
Cmdr. Pat Everly, executive officer of the command, relieved Cmdr. John Menoni during a ceremony at Andersen Air Force Base's Palm Tree Clubhouse.
Capt. Frank Harrison, deputy commander of Helicopter Sea Combat Wing, U.S. Pacific Fleet in San Diego, served as guest speaker.
Nicknamed the Island Knights, HSC-25 promotes the nation's Maritime Strategy through security for American citizens, the application of sea power and strengthening partnerships with allied nations.
"Operationally, the Island Knights excelled in performance at all their assigned missions," Harrison said. "From the air ambulance detachment in Kuwait, to deploying detachments in support of sea combat operations in the fleet, to search and rescue and humanitarian operations here in Guam and the Mariana Islands."
Harrison awarded Menoni the Meritorious Service Medal for his service, professionalism and dedication.
Menoni thanked those who supported him while he was in command August 2007-September 2008.
Menoni added that his team worked hard, took care of each other and strived to achieve his vision of being the best command in the Navy.
"I guarantee you 100 percent from the bottom of my heart that you guys … are contenders for that title," he said.
Menoni's next assignment is at U.S. Joint Forces Command, in Norfolk, Va.
Menoni noted his confidence in Everly's leadership abilities, adding that he leaves HSC-25 in "very capable hands."
"As we move forward, we are certain to face challenges," said Everly. "But I am confident that this squadron will easily overcome them."
