
Seabees Arrive in Cambodia for Civil Assistance

SIHANOUKVILLE, Cambodia (NNS) -- Seabees from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 40 arrived in Sihanoukville Sept. 10 to begin a month-long series of humanitarian civil assistance (HCA) projects throughout the Sihanoukville area.
The 25 Seabees, along with seven medical personnel, will conduct these projects in Sihanoukville, Phnom Penh, and the O Oknaheng Health Center alongside their engineering counterparts from the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.
The Seabees and Cambodian engineers will build a new in-patient medical facility at the O Oknaheng Health Center and renovate three different schools in the Sihanoukville province. The medical personnel will conduct medical and dental civic assistance programs in separate locations in Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh.
The construction projects and other community relations projects will be assisted by Sailors from USS Mustin (DDG 89) during their time in Cambodia. Mustin is assigned to Commander, Task Force 7th Fleet, a key element to Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet.
U.S. 7th Fleet is the largest of the forward-deployed U.S. fleets, with approximately 60-70 ships, 200-300 aircraft and 40,000 Sailors and Marines assigned at any given time.
