
NAS JRB New Orleans Service Members, Families Ordered to Evacuate Ahead of Hurricane Gustav

BELLE CHASSE, La. (NNS) -- The commanding officer of Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base (NAS JRB) New Orleans closed NAS JRB in Belle Chasse, La., Aug. 30.
Capt. William Snyder also ordered all families residing in base housing to evacuate.
NAS JRB New Orleans designated NAS JRB Fort Worth, Texas, as the safe haven for evacuating civilian employees and military members and their families.
Military aircraft at NAS JRB New Orleans departed earlier in the week.
Designated essential and security people will remain at the base Emergency Operations Center to provide a rapid response capability following the passage of Hurricane Gustav.
