BAE SYSTEMS WINS PRIME CONTRACTOR POSITION ON $6.9 BILLION F2AST CONTRACT

18 Aug 2008 | Ref. 229/2008

DAYTON, Ohio – BAE Systems has been named as one of the prime contractors on the U.S. Air Force’s service’s Future Flexible Acquisition and Sustainment Tool (F2AST) contract. This indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract could be worth up to $6.9 billion divided among the prime contractors. BAE Systems work on this contract will be performed at locations across the United States.

“BAE Systems gives the Air Force the reach and resources of one of the world’s largest defense and aerospace companies," said Doug Belair, president of the company’s Technology Solutions & Services business. “As an incumbent on the existing FAST contract, we’ll continue our role of providing innovative solutions and services to meet the Readiness and Sustainment requirements of our customer.”

The F2AST contract has a seven-year ordering period with a 10-year period of performance. BAE Systems can provide for future Air Force requirements to include modifications, development, and maintenance on all Air Force- and Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC)-managed weapons systems. BAE Systems has extensive experience in supporting Air Force-operated weapon systems.

Also, other service components supporting the Air Force mission can use the F2AST contract to access BAE Systems for any weapon system, training system, ground support system, and sustainment activity. Major work planned under this contract includes depot-level maintenance of Air Force and AFSOC aircraft, development of weapon systems, and technology insertion into existing weapon systems. The F2AST contract will significantly shorten the time from concept to combat for existing and future weapon systems and subsystems and sustainment equipment and activities.
