GROTON, Conn. (NNS) -- Regional Support Group (RSG) Groton held a change of command ceremony at the Submarine Force Library and Museum, Groton on Aug. 1.
Capt. Dave Hendricks turned over command to Capt. Douglas Arnold.
RSG Groton serves as Commander, Submarine Force's direct waterfront representative, directing, assigning, and monitoring the accomplishment of intermediate and depot-level repairs and modernizations for three squadrons of 17 submarines.
"In my view it takes an extraordinary person to balance the demands of never ending maintenance requirements while ensuring the workplace can also have a degree of quality of life," said Rear Adm. Bruce Grooms, Submarine Group 2 commander. "Commodore Hendricks has demonstrated the perfect mix of balancing these competing demands."
Hendricks described RSG's role in the submarine force and thanked his staff for the dedication and hard work.
"Our job is to welcome each submarine home with a maintenance plan designed to return her to sea on time, ready to fight," said Hendricks.
"The officers, chiefs, Sailors, civilians and contractors at RSG work tirelessly to ensure that every job is assigned and accomplished, every angle is covered, and the boat goes back to sea, fully ready to go into harm's way."
Hendricks will next serve as the chief of staff for Submarine Group 2.
Arnold thanked Hendricks for the outstanding turnover and expressed his anticipation of things to come.
"I excitedly look forward to this challenge and know that every member of RSG will continue to perform superbly," said Arnold.
Arnold graduated from West Virginia University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering. His previous assignments include commanding officer of USS West Virginia (SSBN 736) (BLUE) and deputy director of antiterrorism and homeland defense on the joint ciefs of staff in Arlington, Va.
