Israel Aerospace Industries' Tamam Division Unveils TMAPS - Tamam Modular Azimuth Positioning System
Jun 16, 2008
The Tamam Division of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) unveils the TMAPS – Tamam Modular Azimuth Positioning System at the Eurosatory 2008 exhibition. TMAPS is a high accuracy navigation system for artillery and other accurate applications.
TMAPS is a self contained hybrid navigation system which performs self alignment and survey. The system is based on Tamam's inertial sensors (Ring Laser Gyros and accelerometers).
Typical applications of TMAPS: Self Propelled Guns, Towed Guns, Vehicle Guns Laying and Positioning Systems (VGLPS), Rocket Launchers and Artillery Radars.
The TMAPS modes of operation are:
* Align: Normal align, Stored Heading align and Align on the move
* Survey: Inertial mode (Odometer, exclusive ZUPT, Odometer + ZUPT), integrated mode (GPS, GPS + Odometer).
* Transport (Air, Marine and Land)
* Laying
* Test (BIT)
In autonomous navigation mode, without GPS, the self alignment accuracy is < 1 mil. The horizontal position accuracy is 0.25 % of the distance traveled.
Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd. (IAI) is a recognized leader in the aerospace and defense markets and is Israel's largest industrial exporter. The TAMAM Division of IAI's Systems, Missiles & Space Group is a proven supplier of a broad line of navigation and inertial reference systems for various applications.
