Pakistani, Turkish air forces conclude 10-day joint exercise

Pakistan-Turkish Exercises
The air forces of Pakistan and Turkey on Tuesday concluded joint exercises, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) said.

The exercises "Indus Viper-2008" were conducted at Pakistan's major base in Sargodha in Punjab, a PAF statement.

The exercises provided an opportunity to combat crew of both the Air Forces to acquaint themselves with applied tactics of air power, it said.

"The event will definitely help strengthen brotherly relations that the two nations enjoy".

A contingent of TuAF fighter aircraft and personnel undertook joint planning and execution of various combat missions in the exercise.

Air Marshal Shahid Lateef, Acting Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force said at the concluding ceremony the two Air forces have a long history of mutual relationship in the shape of exchange postings, conducting courses and cross training visits.

"The exercise Indus Viper, which has just culminated successfully, is indeed an extension of the same cooperation," he said.

He said TuAF provided to Pakistani forces the air crew and combat controllers, the opportunity to gain good experience.

The exercise was also witnessed by Turkish Ambassador Mr. Rauf Engin Soysal, and Major General Sirin Unal, Deputy Commander, First Air Force Command Eskisehir during their visit at Pakistan Air Force Base, Mushaf, Sargodha on 25 April, 2008.
