CAMP RAMADI, Iraq (NNS) -- Naval Moblie Construction Battalion (NMCB) 3 relieved NMCB 1 in an official Transfer of Authority ceremony held at Camp Ramadi, Iraq, April 13.

NMCB 3 Commanding Officer, Cmdr. Antonio M. Edmonds, relieved NMCB 1 Commanding Officer, Cmdr. Dean A. Tufts.

"NMCB 1 did a great job out here and made it very easy for us to pick up the ball and run with it," said Edmonds. "We will be here building and maintaining forward operating bases for the coalition forces and the Transition Team."

The Seabees from NMCB 3 will provide general engineering support to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) in Iraq, and special operation forces in Central Command (CENTCOM).

NMCB 3 will take on many projects that will include the construction of buildings involving concrete work, electrical work, plumbing and finish work. NMCB 3 will also provide convoy security element (CSE) teams to transport troops and construction materials to different work sites and forward operating bases throughout Iraq.

"I am glad to be able to provide support for the service members fighting for Operation Iraqi Freedom," said Builder 2nd Class Rouel Agustin. "It will be a great challenge to experience my job as a builder in hazardous places under harsh conditions."

Seabees from NMCB 3 are currently deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom.
