MILLINGTON, Tenn. (NNS) -- The Surface Warfare Enterprise (SWE) board of directors (BOD) will have its quarterly meeting in Millington, April 3-4.

This meeting will be the first chaired by Commander, Naval Surface Forces, Vice Adm. D. C. Curtis in his capacity as the chief executive officer of the SWE.

Millington, the home of the Navy Personnel Command, is the prime location for the SWE BOD to focus its discussion on the manpower and personnel issues of the surface force.

Class Squadron (CLASSRONs) commanders will present their fleet issues and continue to discuss them during breakout sessions with community managers. After they are presented to the personnel readiness team, a cross-functional team lead by Rear Adm. Scott Hebner (PERS 40), the issues will be presented to the SWE BOD.

"PERS 40 and ECMs [enlisted community managers] are poised and ready to work the issues with the CLASSRONs, it stands to be a great exchange," said Hebner.

SWE develops Sailors and warships to produce an adaptable, dominant and lethal surface force ready to meet warfighting requirements across all mission areas now and for the future. Using tried and true business practices, SWE trains and equips the surface force, allowing Sailors to concentrate on honing their warfighting skills.

In addition to the meeting, the Mid-South Chapter of the Surface Navy Association will host a social event April 3 for all of the members of the surface warfare community. The social will be held at The Helmsman Complex.
