Morocco starts building Mediterranean naval port
25/03/2008 14:37 TANGIER, March 25 (RIA Novosti) - Morocco has started building its first Mediterranean naval base in the Strait of Gibraltar, news agency Maghreb Arabe Presse reported.
The 122-million-euro ($188-mln) project, designed to protect the country's northern border, will be located near Qsar es-Seghir, between Ceuta and Tangier.
Moroccan authorities expect the project to be commissioned in 2010. King of Morocco Mohammed VI presided over a ceremony to launch the project.
