SILVERDALE, Wash. (NNS) -- Naval Base Kitsap, Bangor's Trident Training Facility (TTF) learning site and training support department received the Education and Training Excellence Award for 2007 from RADM G. R. Jones, Naval Education and Training Command (NETC), March 6.

The NETC excellence award is given annually to the top notch learning centers, training support centers, learning sites and training support departments in the fleet. TTF Bangor won both the Training Site and Training Support Department categories.

"I think the main reason we earned this award is because we just do our job," said Machinist's Mate 1st Class (SS) Donald Everett. "We go above and beyond, training almost every class of submarine the Navy has in addition to helping out the surface fleet."

TTF Bangor is continuing to set the standard for training by winning the award for the third year in a row.

"This is a Navywide recognition and we've been recognized three years in a row," said Capt. Daniel Prince, TTF Bangor commanding officer. "We've been recognized as the top training facility in the country, although our mission is expanding and resources have been declining," continued Prince. "We have continued to excel and I think it is a testament of the outstanding people who work here. We're doing more with less and still obtain excellence in training."

In the message announcing the award, Jones went on to praise the qualities that exemplify a successful command.

"The recipients epitomize the talent, dedication, professionalism and commitment to mission accomplishment found throughout NETC," said Jones. "Your continued success in support of the revolution in training will ensure highly trained top-quality Sailors are available to meet the needs of our fleet. I give you my heartiest congratulations and most sincere personal 'thank you' for a job exceptionally well done!"

TTF Bangor not only provides training for SSBN, SSGN and SSN submarines, but also for the surface ships as well.
