BAE SYSTEMS SELLS AVRO RJ100 TO BAHRAIN DEFENCE FORCE
29 Jan 2008 | Ref. 031/2008
Hatfield, Hertfordshire. BAE Systems Regional Aircraft has sold an Avro RJ100 regional jet to the Bahrain Defence Force, to bring its fleet of the type to three aircraft.
The aircraft (msn E3386) is currently being operated by Finnish carrier Blue 1 and will be delivered to the Bahrain Defence Force in January 2008. It will join the two RJ85s currently operated and, as with the existing fleet, will be converted into a VVIP configuration.
The Bahrain Defence Force took delivery of its first Avro RJ85 from the production line in 2001 and added a second pre-owned aircraft several years later.
The Avro RJ was the first civil fixed wing aircraft to be deployed in the Bahrain Defence Force operation. The aircraft offer outstanding airfield performance and operational flexibility and are used for multiple transport roles including VVIP tasks.
