ABOARD USS MOMSEN (NNS) -- USS Momsen (DDG 92) completed its 2007 Supply Management Certification (SMC) Nov. 27, demonstrating outstanding programs in retail, general store, hazardous material, postal and food services management.

Afloat Training Group, Pacific Northwest (ATG PNW) conducted the inspection, which focused on thorough storeroom inventories and detailed space and equipment preservation. The certification came after more than 18 months of preparations by supply department personnel whose dedication to maintain high standards was reflected in their success and noted by ATG inspectors.

"Inventories and financial records looked outstanding," said ATG PNW's Commanding Officer, Cmdr. Anthony Ohl.

The general stores division did their part by cementing their daily routine with storekeeper training, while the ship's retail team verified security requirements and equipment operability resulting in a score of 92. The food service division did their part as well, maintaining high standards of sanitation, accountability and customer service for which they received a final score of 94.4.

At the SMC debrief with the ship's commanding officer, Ohl said, "Momsen's food evaluations were significantly above normal."

He added, "Momsen did an excellent job preparing for this inspection."

Momsen is a guided-missile destroyer capable of providing multi-mission offensive and defensive capabilities, and can operate independently or as part of carrier battle groups, surface action groups, expeditionary strike groups, and underway replenishment groups.
